The Secret Story of The Week - "The Missing Ring" By Kathy, from Illinois USA

When I was married at age 20, I borrowed both of my Grandmother's rings to wear during the ceremony. I have always loved jewelry. My Grandma B. left me her ring when she passed on. She always teased me about how I would touch her diamond wedding band when I was a toddler and say, "sparkly". My Grandma S. had a beautiful ruby ring that Grandpa S. gave her when they were dating, which I also admired. The ruby ring was passed down to my mother and she said that Grandma wanted me to have it some day.

I am one of four daughters and our parents had told us that we should all pick out something of theirs that we would like to have. My sisters all took an antique and I said that all I wanted was Grandma's ruby ring. Sadly, my mother started showing signs of Alzheimer's disease so I decided I better get the ring from her before it went missing. We went through all of her jewelry and sure enough the ring was missing! A short time before this happened there was a falling out between two of my sisters and me and there was much bitterness in my heart. So when I found the ring missing, I immediately started thinking thoughts of how my sister must have taken the ring to upset me. Now, I had no proof what so ever that this was what happened but had convinced myself that it had to be. I asked all three of my sisters if they had any idea where the ring might have gone but no one had any ideas.

After a couple of years of carrying this negativity about the ring in my heart, I re-read The Secret and realized that my negative thoughts were the reason the ring was still missing. For two days in a row, I meditated and visualized finding the ring. On Sunday morning I woke up and was going through all of the things that I am grateful for and included that I was grateful for finding Grandma's ring. I visualized what it felt like sliding it on my finger, which then brought tears of joy to my eyes.

Later that morning I went to my parents house to help pack their things as they are moving into a beautiful retirement community this week. When I was putting Mom's laundry away, I looked up on her shelf in her closet. It was where she had told me many years before, that she kept her money in a false book and to be sure to retrieve it if something should happen to her and Dad. I pulled down the book and there was no money in it but to my delight the only thing in the book was a wadded up plastic bag. I pulled out the bag and felt something hard inside. I knew immediately that it was the ring! Sure enough the Universe delivered it to me as soon as I put the damaging, negativity behind me. I have been a believer for years but until recently revisiting the teachings of The Secret I was only scratching the surface of what the Universe has to offer!
